The sold out IT Martini 20: Tech After Tomorrow followed the TechTomorrow conference at Ohio Union, with a special focus on The Adaptive Enterprise. Hundreds from the Columbus IT Community raised thousands for the Groundwork Group, exchanged feedback about the conference, voted Janova to win the IT Community Choice Award, and engaged special guest hosts Dr. Erika Pryor and Chris Lockhart from Digital 411.
Conference Retrospective
Those attending the TechTomorrow conference had a chance to regroup at the reception to learn more about fellow attendees and to mix with the local IT Community.
Branndon Kelley, TechTomorrow panelist and CIO of American Municipal Power Inc., lead the conference retrospective. His goal, he said, was to “. . . continue the conversation of the conference in a more laid back approach.”
The Battle of the Best
Janova, which provides automated software testing tools, won the IT Community Choice Award during the Battle of the Best competition. Janova was up against five other past IT Community Choice Award winners. Competition was fierce, but the ballots in the martini glass pointed to Janova.
How does it feel to be best of the best?
Jeff Lusenhop, founder and CEO of Janova, answered “Janova had its launch at our first IT Martini event last fall where we won the IT Community Award. We are honored that the attendees at the latest IT Martini event voted us as Best of the Best from all the other well deserving previous award winners.”
Live Internet Broadcast
Dr. Erika Pryor of Digital 411 and Chris Lockhart of In the TechKnow were in the audience conducting live interviews for their back-to-back TalkTainment Internet radio broadcasts. Pryor and Lockhart engaged the audience on tech topics such as Google Chrome 15, new apps in the Google store, free content from Crackle.com, the ascendancy of Netflix and “rails of power” for data servers.
Lockhart reflected, for example, on how on-demand content was resisted by major media who were “fighting it kicking and screaming. He believes it’s here to stay with one exception - live sports. Lockhart said “that’s where your sanctuary will be for live group watch TV.”
It’s interesting to ponder.
The live broadcast also included interviews with sponsors and Battle of the Best DEMOs. Did you miss a sponsor or DEMO presentation? If so, be sure to listen to the podcast.
GroundWork Group
The GroundWork Group was the charity partner collecting over $2,000 from a very generous crowd. Raffle prizes included a $100 Visa gift card, a $100 Best Buy gift card, a three-hour chair massage and a football autographed by our own two-time Heisman trophy winner Archie Griffin.
The GroundWork group’s mission is to link volunteers with non-profits. Included in the volunteer pool are IT Tech Volunteers.
Your services are needed so consider making your volunteer efforts this year IT volunteerism. You volunteer best when you match your skills with those needed by the community.
