Wednesday, December 2nd brought cold, rainy weather with unbelievable traffic to the Columbus area – but that didn’t stop over 400 Columbus IT Pros from attending IT Martini Hour 8: Ghost of Projects Past at BoMA! Almost  $3000 was raised in support of The Buckeye Ranch and Groundwork Group, two fantastic local non-profits.

Upstairs in BOMA’s Great Room, a thoughtful Panel Discussion took place thanks to sponsor PMI Central Ohio Chapter.  Moderator Ken Clark lead the discussion about learning from past projects, with three all star PM panelists: Tim Bolwerk (Senior PM for Star Dynamic Corporation), Brian Watson (Director of the Project Services Organization at Quick Solutions Inc.), and Dave Davis (AT&T Program/Project Manager).

Downstairs in the Sanctuary, five DEMOs competed for the IT Martini Community Choice Award, presented by Fast SwitchBrand Thunder showcased an extreme browser makeover, Hash Party explored the trends and social graphs behinds Twitter hash tags, eEvent displayed a multiple organizer solution for special events, Fuelmilage.com demonstrated real world fuel mileage stats, and DB.NET revealed a better, faster way to migrate databases from COBOL.

Also in the Sanctuary, following the panel discussion – Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman made a special appearance!

Then it was the moment that everyone was waiting for: identifying the winner of the IT Martini Community Choice Award, presented by Fast Switch.  Congratulations to eEvent for taking it home!

In addition to the award, eEvent won $1000 in cash, a project consultation retainer from Q-Start Labs, and testing services from Platform Lab.  All of the DEMOs were great – watch for the personalities behind them, once the IT Martini Hour 8 videos are ready.

Wrapping up the evening was the raffle drawing for Groundwork Group and The Buckeye Ranch. Thanks to eEvent and PSI Group for donating iPod Nanos, PROTEUS OCM for donating a portable DVD player, DB-Net for the autographed football donations, and The Buckeye Ranch for donating a team autographed Blue Jackets jersey and hockey stick.

Of course, where would IT Martini Hour 8 be without its Top Shelf Sponsors?  A very heartfelt thank you goes out to PMI Central Ohio ChapterGRIP Technology, andAmerican Digital
